First Meeting with Maria

I just completed my first visit with my social worker, Maria. We talked for two hours and we covered a lot of ground. I was really struggling with feelings of inadequacy earlier today before she arrived. You know: She's going to think I don't make enough money, my house is too small, I'm too immature... All of which is nonsense, of course. I was just dealing with self doubt. I experienced similar feelings before I began my master's program.

Anyway, I feel like it went well and I'm ready to move on to the next steps. AND my house is REALLY clean!!!

Our SW was chock full of insights and helpful suggestions. Remember, they're trying to help you get to your daughter not keep you away.

Sounds as though things went well. Hang in there and before you know it you'll be DTC & LID!!!

Yay! I am so glad. Now you can relax. It's so good that your mom helped you get ready too. I remember wanting everything to be perfect. It's so silly to think of now, but I spent $40.00 on flowers for the porch the day before the SW came. Somehow it made me feel more presentable.

Congrats! As I mentioned on another person's blog, a SW's job isn't to prevent people from becoming parents, but to help fulfill their dreams of parenthood. I found my SW very open-minded and was please with the process!

I'm so glad it went well for you! I thought about you yesterday and couldn't check in since my home computer crashed so I said a prayer for you!

That was so sweet of your mother to help you get ready beforehand! My mom did the same thing and I loved lounging in the clean house after the visit!

Great! Whenever you're in doubt, remember the classic story of The Little Engine That Could!! "I think I can, I think I can! Ok, I know that's a little strange, but it works for me!
