Here's A Question

I have the USCIS I-600A. The directions say to complete the form (I have), include a photocopy of the BC, a check, and a cover letter. It does say that a notarized copy of the home study is required, but that the home study can be sent later. Should I send the I-600A in now? I would especially like to hear from anyone who lives in Southern California who had to use the LA District Office. Your input is truly appreciated!

I don't live in CA, but did send in the I-600 at the beginning of the process. In other words, it did not include a copy of our home study. This is the way that our adoption agency asked us to do it.

I think it is ok either way. We waited until it was done, and hand delivered it to the LA office. But I think it is ok to send it before hand too. Check with your FC at AWAA to be sure!! : )

Johannah- Here is the upholsterer's name and number. I didn't leave it before because I hadn't seen what kind of work he did yet, I just knew it was inexpensive. He did a fabulous job and I am very happy with it. I found out he is actually based in West Covina, but his wife travels to Cypress once or twice a week to attend adult education with my Dad, so he doesn't mind travelling around the surrounding areas of Cypress. Anyway, his number is (562) 801-9694. His name is Art Salas. Sorry this is so long!

I sent mine in before my HS was done! Had no problems. Good Luck!

Hi Joannah - are you a member of the yahoo group for your local FCC chapter to get local advice for CA? Because the practices of sending the homestudy/I-600A varies per immigration office. In Texas, we are told to wait for the homestudy before sending the I-600A, but other regions of the country allow you to send the form earlier. Sounds like things are moving along wonderfully!

BTW - I can't wait to hear more about your Oscar party!!!

I was told to send it after my 2nd homestudy appointment with the social worker.

We used the L.A. office and sent in my homestudy about a month after we were fingerprinted. Our social worker told us that would expedite things and she was right. Best of luck!

    Hi Johannah,

I am Karen, friend of the Wolfs and am in the waiting for referral stage. You've been to my blog.

We did the I-600A right away, but the Los Angeles USCIS won't start anything until they have your completed notarized homestudy. You can confirm this with the USCIS...unless things have changed since we got our I171H in September. Feel free to contact me if you need any other info, or the telephone numbers.
