Looks Like We're Really in for a Long Wait

From our favorite rumor mill...

This is not a rumor, this is officially from Australia. They do not have individual private agencies, their government relays all information that they get, and this comes from their government.

The statement basically says that they are aware that there were encouraging comments from the CCAA delegation about the wait times. However, they state that the CCAA advised their departments that the waiting time from LID until referral will now begin to extend beyond 12 months. The wait is expected to extend to 18 months over the coming year.

The email notes that it is terribly disappointing, but that they want their families to have a realistic assessment of waiting times.

Sheesh... I'll be forty by then. Not to mention the expense and hassle of having to redo the HS and the I-171H.

What to do?

Not much you can do, if you feel you want to stick with China. I turned 40 while in China adopting, if that helps any.

I'll be 40 too by then!

I saw this info on RQ this morning so it didn't come as a shock.

For now, I am off to go bang my head on a wall. We'll all suvive but right now I want to cry :O(

I'm sticking w/ China. I just can't believe that this is going to take the better part of three years to become reality.

I'll be 43 it’s not so bad in your 40's just a few more gray hairs. Hope my daughter likes salt and pepper as this wait is going to give me a lot more gray hair.

That is scary, heart-breaking, and mind boggling. When we started the wait was about nine months. To think that the wait time will double amazes me. I hate the thought of having to redo our HS and I 171-H. I guess it will give us something to do while we wait.

You poor things! I have really wanted to go with China because my niece was adopted from China, but on Saturday my husband and I are going to an information session about adopting from Vietnam.
I will pray that the wait for China does not take so long!!

Remember though, China has extended wait periods and then shortened them too. There is really no rhyme or reason...totally frustrating. Hopefully, though, the time will shorten soon. Hang in there! Dinner? When? Where??

Ohhh... that is so not what I wanted to hear. I'm okay with the year wait but don't want it to stretch to closer to 18 months.

    Geesh!

I am still handing on to the fact that most rumors are distortions of the truth. So the wait is probably changing to 8 months, not 18 months. Hey, a girl can dream right! :^)

Other than a few physiological changes, 40's not bad! As far as the rumors though, uhm, I'm just trying to ignore them and hope they stay as rumors!

Try turning 50 before being a first time mom! If it takes 18 months from LID, that's how old I will be! We started this process when I barely turned 48.
