Well, it wasn't easy getting up before dawn this morning to get ready for work, but I managed. I even got out the door on time and found the traffic to be light. So, I was off to a good start.
The best thing about my day today was when one of my students, Rebecca (who is such a sweetheart), came up to me and said, "I just have to give you a hug! I missed you so much during vacation." Then she wrapped her tiny arms around me and squeezed with all her strength. That just melted my heart and reminded me why I get up so early every day.

I'm glad you got a spot of sunshine from that little one today. Those moments are great.
While none of my 14 year olds gave me a hug, I did get my very first "student-made" quilt square. You'll never guess the name of the student who gave me a piece of her baby blanket..."Jillian". :)

I'm sure it's moments like that that remind you why you became a teacher.

That is I think what we all need in our school experiences, a teacher who is awesome. I imagine her parents are thankfull for that also as I 'm sure she is full of excitement going to and from school everyday.
